What it is
- What is ProofVerity?
- An AI detector for documents and images. It marks AI-written text, AI-generated or altered images and citations that do not hold up, on the page, with the evidence for every finding.
- Who is it for?
- Newsrooms and fact-checkers, universities and teachers, and anyone who has been sent something too good to be true.
- Is ProofVerity an AI detector or a plagiarism checker?
- An AI detector and a citation verifier. It does not compare essays against other students’ work.
- Which formats can I check?
- PDF, DOCX, JPG, PNG and public URLs, from the web app, the browser extension, the mobile share sheet or the API.
- Which languages does it cover?
- Spanish, English and the other major European languages, for both text detection and citation verification. The site is in English and Spanish.
Accuracy
- How accurate is ProofVerity?
- Every probability is calibrated per document type and shipped with its false-positive rate, so accuracy is stated on each report rather than as one marketing number. A 94 means 94.
- Can AI detectors be wrong?
- Yes, all of them. That is why ProofVerity flags sentences instead of documents, shows the signals behind each flag and publishes error rates. Results are evidence for a person to weigh, not verdicts.
- Does it detect ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini?
- It detects machine-written prose regardless of the model, by measuring properties of the text. New models are added to the calibration sets as they appear.
- Can it detect AI-generated images and deepfakes?
- Yes: generator fingerprints and diffusion artefacts for synthetic images; clone stamping, splicing and inpainting for altered ones, with the region outlined. Video is checked frame by frame as stills.
- Can it find fake citations from ChatGPT?
- Yes. Every reference is resolved against thousands of sources and reported as verified, not found, misquoted or misattributed, with the nearest match.
Privacy and data
- What happens to my documents?
- They are processed in-region (EU or UK), deleted after 30 days and never used for training. You can delete them earlier from your history.
- Is ProofVerity GDPR compliant?
- ProofVerity is operated by FUNNELD LTD under the UK GDPR and, where applicable, the EU GDPR. The privacy policy lists the legal bases, retention periods and your rights.
- Which cookies does the site use?
- One strictly necessary cookie for sign-in, one local-storage entry for your cookie choice, and anonymous analytics only if you accept them. No advertising trackers.
Credits and pricing
- What counts as a credit?
- One document of up to 100 pages, or four images. The credit is spent when the report is ready.
- How much does it cost?
- Free: 3 credits a month. Professional: €49 a month for 250 credits. Desk & Department: €499 a month for 2,500 pooled credits. Pay as you go: €0.99 down to €0.17 a credit. Prices exclude VAT.
- Is there a free plan?
- Yes, 3 credits a month with all four detectors, no card. The first check needs no account.
- How does the API bill?
- Like pay as you go: metered monthly, €0.99 a credit down to €0.17 by volume, no subscription.
- Can I cancel?
- Any time. Monthly plans stop at the end of the period. No lock-in, no cancellation fee.
