Three things that go wrong on deadline
- A photo from a tip is real but edited, or generated and recompressed until it looks real.
- A quote in a press release, a study or a viral post was never said, or was said about something else.
- A freelancer’s sources are plausible, formatted correctly, and do not exist.
Images: from tip to page
Drop the file or share it from a phone. The synthetic detector reports whether a model made the pixels; the alteration detector outlines any edited region and its share of the frame. Credentials and metadata are read alongside. Ask for the original when the report says recompression has erased evidence.
Text and quotes
Press releases, op-eds and submitted copy are checked sentence by sentence for machine-written passages. Quotations and figures attributed to a source are resolved against the source: a study that exists but says something else is reported as misquoted, with the discrepancy.
Chain of custody
Every asset keeps a log: who submitted it, when, what was checked, what was found, who reviewed and decided. The log exports with the annotated PDF and its evidence appendix, which is what legal will ask for.

A credit is one document of up to 100 pages, or four images. Two thousand wire images a month are 500 credits.
A verification checklist
- Get the original file, not the forwarded copy.
- Run it. Read which detector fired and the outlined region.
- Check provenance: credentials, earliest appearance, the sender.
- For text, open every flagged citation and quote; the report gives you the nearest source.
- Decide, note, export. The custody log records the decision.
